Prepare Your Lawn for Spring

After a long, hard winter, the first signs of spring are finally beginning to show. While the daffodils and crocuses tend to take care of themselves, your lawn will appreciate a little bit of extra attention at this time of year.

So it’s time to break into the shed, dust off those tools and get yourself back out into the great outdoors. Here are a few simple steps to help your lawn recover from winter and give it the best possible start to the new season.

Seed

Sprinkling a good layer of seeds over your lawn will help to fill out any bare patches and contribute to a thick coating of thick lush grass. Mix the seeds in with a layer of topsoil to give it a boost while it’s germinating and you will soon begin to see the results.

Feed

Winter is rough on your lawn, especially years like this when we have a good covering of snow. Feeding your lawn will help to replace lost nutrients which are vital at this time of year to encourage your grass in its natural growth spurt.

Mow

It’s important to mow your lawn regularly all through the warmer months, and now is the time to start. Take it easy at first with your mower blades on their highest setting, before gradually working down to the length you want to achieve.
